Glycolic Peels

A Glycolic Peel is…

The application of a high concentration of glycolic acid to your skin, by a technician for a short period of time (usually one to ten minutes). A peel can be accomplished within a 15 minute visit. Your face will be gently cleansed and the peel product will be quickly and evenly applied for the length of time determined by your technician. A post peel neutralizer may be sprayed or wiped across the treated area(s), then rinsed with cool water; patted dry and then you will continue your day as usual.

During the application of the peel you may experience a slight burning, prickling sensation. This sensation will feel similar to sunburn pain and will only last a couple of minutes. After the whole process is completed, your skin may have a pinkish tone. Although your skin will be sensitive, it will feel soft and refreshed.

Benefits of the glycolic peel include…

Rejuvenated skin by means of exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells and stimulating cellular renewal. After a series of Glycolic Acid Peels your skin will be revitalized, younger and healthier looking. Glycolic Acid Peels have been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lighten dark (age) spots for a more even skin tone. The texture of your skin will also be smooth and softened. The glycolic peel regimen is as follows…

A series of peels will be performed by your technician. Our treatment will be given every 10 days for a series of 7. As the series progresses, the technician will increase either the time the product is left on your face or the strength of the peel, depending on your skin’s needs. This allows you to gradually reach the maximum benefits as your skin develops a tolerance for the glycolic acid. The average peel regimen consists of a series of 7 peels. The time frame can be shortened or lengthened, depending on your individual needs. It is important to meet and discuss these needs with your technician to develop a peel program tailored just for you.

Expectations of glycolic peel program…

Results will vary from individual to individual. Discuss your specific expectations with your technician. You will work together to define your expectations and goals. Improvements may include softening of fine lines, reductions of acne blemishes, lightening of dark pigmented areas. Your skin will look fresher and feel softer.

Post peel care…

Follow up care is simple, but important. After your peel, wait a minimum of 12 - 24 hours before applying makeup. You may experience some stinging and irritation for several days following a peel, depending on the strength of the peel.

DAILY MAINTENANCE…

Daily use of the at home products is very important. Your technician will choose the products that best suit your skin type and your rejuvenation expectations.

Can I tan in a tanning bed or outside during a series of peels?

-Absolutely not! Your skin will be much more sensitive to the sun. But if you cannot avoid the outside sun, make sure to wear a sun block at all times.
